What is a database:-

A database is a systematically organized or structured collection of indexed information that allows easy retrieval, updating, analysis, and output of information.

Here are some examples of databases:
An online store database that stores products, customer details and orders of customers.
A database for a job portal site that stores jobseeker's information, jobs information, and also job posting informations.
A database for a blog system, such as blogger, that stores users, blog posts, categories, tags, and comments.

The software that manages databases is known as a database management system, or DBMS. MySQL is an example of a DBMS. Actuallly DBMSs are often called databases too. The database is the data itself, while the DBMS is the software that works with the database.

There are many different ways to organize data in a database, known as database models. One of the most popular is the relational model, which is what MySQL uses. Consequently, MySQL is known as a relational database management system, or RDBMS.
